When is the Fifa 18 TOTS?

Team of the Season is a mode on Fifa Ultimate Team which selects the standout stars from a host of European leagues and beyond.

It allows gamers to get their hands on the talents who have lit up action across the globe, often giving the players truly eye-catching stat boosts.

Although in previous years the feature has gone live early in May, this season it’s being rolled out slightly earlier – on April 27.

Until then, players have the chance to vote for the Community Team of the Season, which you can help select from a 100-strong shortlist at Futhead and Futwiz.

Unlike the Team of the Year and Team of the Week features, TOTS selects separate line-ups league-by-league, as well as an overall Ultimate Team of the Year.

This means there’s far more chance of someone from your club making the cut, with the EFL getting its own side alongside the likes of the Premier League, Serie A and La Liga.

Who was in the Fifa 17 TOTS?

Last year’s line-up featured the creme-de-la-creme of global footballing talent.

Expect a few of this lot to make the cut again in this year’s outfit:

  • David De Gea (GK) – 95
  • Sergio Ramos (CB) – 95
  • Giorgio Chiellini (CB) – 96
  • Thiago Silva (CB) – 95
  • Toni Kroos (CM) – 94
  • N’Golo Kanté (CM) – 92
  • Radja Nainggolan (CAM) – 94
  • Cristiano Ronald (LW) – 99
  • Lionel Messi (RW) – 99
  • Robert Lewandowski (ST) – 98
  • Luis Suarez (ST) – 97

What is FUT Team of the Week?

Fifa Ultimate Team’s Team of the Week feature is released by EA Sports every Wednesday afternoon, and is active for a week from 6.00pm GMT.

TOTW recognises the players from across the globe who have stood out for their clubs in the previous round of fixtures.

In total, a squad of 23 is selected, with 11 starters, seven substitutes and five reserves.

All of these in-form stars are recognised with special in-form cards available for that week only with improved stats – they are therefore highly-sought.

The feature is also present on Fifa Mobile, although the format is trimmed down slightly and the cards’ stats are not boosted to the same extent.

Who was named in the Fifa Team of the Year?

Team of the Year (TOTY) gave Fifa 18 Ultimate Team and Fifa Mobile gamers the chance to get their hands on limited-edition cards honouring the standout players from the 2017 calendar year.

TOTY items are available in packs for a limited time after the squad is announced, and were highly-sought after and incredibly rare.

The player cards gave even the planet’s biggest superstars dramatic upgrades, with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo rated 98 and 99 respectively in this year’s line-up.

Selected from a longlist of 55 nominees, the final XI was laid out in a 4-3-3 formation, consisting of four defenders, three midfielders and three attackers.

After being announced position-by-position, the team was completed in full on January 17 and the feature was live for the rest of the month.

Here are the superstars who made the cut this year:

  • David De Gea
  • Sergio Ramos
  • Leonardo Bonucci
  • Marcelo
  • Dani Alves
  • Luca Modric
  • Kevin De Bruyne
  • N’Golo Kanté
